A pronounced attack due to the high acidity developed over the many years of ageing in the barrels. The Port quickly becomes very smooth, balanced by its sweetness and the emergence of dried fruits, toasted nuts and caramel flavours. On the palate, it evolves into notes of cloves, ground coffee and bitter almonds. The many layers of flavour build to an explosive finish, dominated by citrus, cinnamon and ginger notes that linger persistently.
