Legend has it that on sunny days, at the western entrance to the Douro, in the city of Peso da Régua, we see girls of various ages next to the river and the train station, with plastic bags or baskets in hand, "singing" and inviting people to try Douro Rebuçados with Honey and Port Wine, and tradition proves the story.

Despite a centuries-old tradition, they are still bought in bags of several units and come wrapped in twisted paper in the shape of a bow. There are, at least, records since 1930 and from an early age the subsistence of many women until today in the artisanal manufacture of Rebuçados de Peso da Régua is known.
