Taylor’s Vintage 2007
Ageing Period:
Aged for 24 months in oak casks and then in bottles for several years.
Winemaking Process:
Produced only with grapes from the two “letter A” rated farms: Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta de Vargellas, from a single harvest in a particular year.
After four hot and dry years, the 2007 growing season was preceded by a rainy winter that allowed the replenishment of Douros water reserves in the region.
The wet weather continued during the spring and early summer, with lower temperatures than normal for that time, combined with periods of rain.
No major periods of intense heat during the summer months were accounted for.
The first two weeks of September had constant daily temperatures of 35ºC to 38ºC.
These conditions of warm and dry weather allowed the grapes perfect ripeness and the production of sugar and phenolics advanced, maintaining the excellent natural acidity resulting from the relatively cool summer.
As a result, the harvest had perfectly balanced musts which resulted in fine and stylish wines, full of vitality and with a wonderfully fresh concentrated fruit character.
