Taylor’s Vintage 1977
Ageing Period:
Aged for 24 months in oak casks and then in bottles for several years.
Winemaking Process:
Produced only with grapes from the two “letter A” rated farms: Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta de Vargellas, from a single harvest in a particular year.
The 1976/7 winter was one of the wettest on record, with over 60 cm of rain recorded between the months of October and May.
After three years of drought, that rain was much acclaimed.
The harvest began on September 28 under extremely hot conditions.
In the valley, in general, yields tended to be high.
The 1977 year was not only, an amazing harvest year for Taylor’s, but also a hallmark year for Quinta de Vargellas, because it was the year that electricity arrived at the property.
