Graham’s Six Grapes Port has always been the quintessential port, the one that people start with and the one they keep going back to.It offers pure hedonistic pleasure and there are times when wine doesn’t need to command 100% of the attention in the room. Six Grapes is never flashy, trying to grab too much attention but it’s a wonderful demure and comforting companion in any setting
Six Grapes typically sees a rather shorter period in wooden barrels than other Reserve Ruby Ports, with our blending team seeking to preserve its youthful, blackberry fruit character and the fresh aromas of cassis and liquorice. After being loaded out of the Malvedos winery in the Spring following the harvest, the wines travel to Graham’s cask lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia where they will typically spend between one or two years in seasoned wooden barrels or vats before being incorporated into the Six Grapes lot ready for bottling. Our blending team is careful to try to match as closely as possible the new blend to the previous one so that the consumer can be certain that their favourite bottle of Six Grapes always maintains its outstanding level of quality. Once in bottle, the wine is ready to drink and does not require further ageing.
Croft 2009 Vintage Port
This Vintage Port was created in 2009, which will be remembered as a year of low yields, due, in part, to the small amount of fruit and the effects of a very dry ripening season.
The ripening season started with relatively cold weather that remained so until July.
However, August was intensely hot.
An early harvest granted wines a good acid balance and avoided over-ripening.
Dow's Quinta Sra. Da Ribeira Vintage 2012 is a wine with aroma of violets from the vineyards of Touriga Franca which are oriented to the South and in the year of its production reached a perfect ripeness.
