Fonseca Vintage 2000 Port

Ageing Period:
Aged for 24 months in oak casks and then in bottles for several years.

Winemaking Process:
Produced only with grapes from Fonseca's farms - Quinta de Santo António, Quinta do Cruzeiro and Quinta do Panascal from a single harvest in a particular year.
The grapes are trodden by foot in stone wine mills.

Tasting Notes:
This is a deep purplish-black colour Port with intense and deep aromas, showing concentrated and opulent fruitness, typical in Fonseca's style.
It has rich aromas of blackcurrant and plum, overlaid with floral and spicy notes.
This Port is full-bodied with velvety on the palate with soft and ripe tannins with good grip, ensuring a long fruity finish.

YEAR NOTES
The wet 1999 harvest was followed by a cold and dry winter.
April and May were very wet; half of the annual rainfall rate occurred during the two months.
June and July were dry.
August continued dry and the first half of the month was extremely hot.
The end of August and early September had perfect ripening conditions, with long warm days.
A few days of rain, between 10 and 18 September, produced the ideal conditions and finished maturation.
The resulting wines were quite full-bodied, with an intense colour and very attractive aromas.

Tax included.
